Story Idea: Student PR Agency

.
JCOM 5320—PR Agency . . .

. . . is the senior capstone class for PR majors, taught by Troy Oldham. They have been extraordinarily successful in landing and serving real-world professional clients for real-world PR and promotional campaigns. Over the last couple of years, the Agency staff (equivalent in many ways to the ATV newscast people and the HNC staff in terms of professional, experiential work for credit) have had an array of big-time clients, ranging from USU departments and programs (like the new Caine College of the Arts) to professional musicians (USU students, the Falk sisters) to big companies and agencies (like MicroSoft and the National Park Service).

The story would focus on the PR students’ (current and past) experience working with real-world clients and PR agencies (like Richter7 in SLC), and the projects they took on. In the process, PR senior and PRSSA president Courtney Lewis won the Golden Spike Award last semester for the best PR student in the state.

This is a story both for the HNC and for the JCOM website.

Who wants it?
